Sustainable mobility

Sustainable Mobility is much broader than only driving on natural gas or electricity

Problem definition + range of solutions

Mobility has many side-effects today:

  • The emission of polluting substances such as CO2, fine particles, NOx, SOx, etc ... which have a negative impact on the greenhouse effect and the air and sound quality
  • Traffic jams

The solution to effectively tackling these problems is threefold:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel by decentralising company sites, create open-offices and encourage home working and conference calls
  • Encourage communal transport (public transport, car pooling and car sharing)
  • Reduce the environment impact of your other (individual) travel by:
    • reducing the emission of conventional engines
    • stimulating vehicles that drive on more environment-friendly fuel, such as natural gas and electricity

ENGIE Electrabel's commitment

ENGIE Electrabel encourages sustainable mobility based on electricity and natural gas (CNG, Compressed Natural Gas or LNG, Liquefied Natural Gas) and developed the following action plan:

  • Raise the awareness of our customers and partners
  • Support research into new technologies
  • The integration of vehicles on CNG and electricity in our own fleet
  • The development of an integrated sustainable mobility solution

2 Pillars: electricity and natural gas

ENGIE Electrabel stimulates both driving on natural gas and electricity. The choice between these two technologies depends on different parameters such as:

  • the distance you need to cover every day
  • purpose of the travel (people transport or utilitarian transport)
  • the type of travel

These 2 technologies are complementary and it is possible that you include both vehicles on electricity and natural gas in your fleet.
